The American aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson, from where Osama bin Laden's body was buried at sea, left the Philippines on Thursday with no untoward incident that took place, police said. National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said that the four-day visit of the U.S. carrier fleet has been "sound and secured. "We looked after their safety, made sure that the ships and all its personnel/delegates will be provided adequate security as they conduct their mission and the American Navy personnel enjoyed liberty passes here in Metro Manila last May 14-19, 2011," Purisima said. Approximately 7,000 men and women went to liberty during their stay in Metro Manila. Aside from taking a break, they also did courtesy calls, reception at the ship, community relations projects and visits to selected areas in the metropolis. USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) was escorted by three ships including USS Bunker Hill (CG-52), USS Shiloh (CG-67) and USS Gridley.
