KARACHI- Downward revision in the rate of return on NSS resulted in intense buying at the Karachi Stock Exchange as the KSE-100 Index gained 72 points on Wednesday. It is important to mention here that Government of Pakistan received an amount of around $1.4bn from IMF and World Bank, which is likely to result in better reserves numbers. The second quarter of the year began on a positive note with the KSE-100 Index gaining 47.52 points on its opening and at the end of the day closed at 6,931.90 points with a gain of 71.68 points, 1.04 percent. Trading activity was worst as the ready market volume decreased to 207.282m shares as compared to last trading sessions 314.266m shares. Market capitalisation stood up to Rs 2.081tr. As many as 195 companies at KSE advanced, 139 declined and the worth of the shares of 20 symbols remained unchanged. Total trading value of the market declined to 8.281b rupees against last trading sessions 14.849b rupees. Market was lead by ENGRO, HUBCO, KAPCO, ICI and AICL, which stole the show with upper cap. Highest volumes were witnessed in OGDC with the trading of 13.402m shares on Wednesday, DGKC 13.183m shares, PTCL 8.670m shares, Maple Leaf 7.670m shares, Jahangir Siddiqui 7.342m shares, JS Growth 6.622m shares, Bosicor Pakistan 5.770m shares, Pace Pakistan 5.668m shares, NIB Bank 5.505m shares, JS Bank 5.280m shares, Zeal Pak 4.814m shares namely. Major gainers at the KSE include Fazal Textile and it gained 21.19 rupees/share with the trading of only 200 shares, Colgate Palm added 12.81 rupees/share and closed at Rs274.55, Bata Pakistan gained 12.77 rupees/share, closing at Rs666.57, Unilever Pakistan closed at Rs1854 gaining 11 rupees/share, Lakson Tobacco gained 8.36 rupees/share and its total value was improved to Rs175.57, Dawood Hercules (SPOT) added 7.01 rupees/share and closed at Rs147.37, Mari Gas Company gained 6.75 rupees/share and closed at Rs141.88, Pak Oilfield closed at Rs176.38, gaining 5.32 rupees/share. On the other hand, Siemens Pakistan lost 25.80 rupees/share and closed at Rs724.20, Nestle Pakistan also lost 15.53 rupees/share and its value was decreased to Rs1160.37, Packages Ltd lost Rs6.82/share and closed at Rs166.27, Attock Petroleum closed at 269.44 losing 6.27 rupees/share, Shell lost 2.68 rupees/share and closed at Rs240.89, Pak Petroleum lost 2.22 rupees/share and closed at Rs171.05.
