Mechanical tandoors promoting local industry

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Punjab Small Industries Corporation has said that the market of mechanical tandoor has been expanded to Sindh, Balochistan and Khayber Pakhtoonkhawa, besides order has been received from Afghanistan for their supply. Conventional tandoors have already been exported to America, Canada and England by the manufacturers. According to a press release issued by the corporation, a cost effective new technology has been evolved for mechanization of conventional tandoors and due to this the vender industry like foundry, electric motors rewinding and die casting has been developed. A new cluster of tandoor manufacturer has been developed in Gujranwala which has promoted the existing mechanized tandoor industry into a regulated industrial cluster. Through this scheme, direct and indirect job opportunities have been created in industrial sector. The corporation further says that the scheme has received immense response as some 267 mechanical tandoors have been installed and Sasti Roti for Rs2 is being provided to the common man and more than 4 lac peoples are getting benefit daily. The government of Punjab is providing 15 bags of atta on average with subsidized rate per tandoor, per day.
