PCSIR to set up incubation centres

ISLAMABAD (APP) Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) will soon establish Technology Business Incubation Centers (TBICs) at Karachi,Lahore and Peshawar for commercialization of production activities. It will also pursue establishment of technical training centers of Gwadar, Balochistan to produce skilled manpower for public and private sectors. An amount of Rs 2b has been allocated in PSDP 2011-12, for the projects of Ministry of Science and Technology. According to official data available, this allocation is almost three times of the last years revised allocation. Spokesperson PCSIR Irfana Shafiq told APP that they have the aim to develop technologies for high quality black glass,nano particle, bio degradable polymer and IndoleAcetic Acid to cater the needs of industrial sectors and leasing out the technologies, developed during 2010-11. PCSIR has the objective to increase the number of patents,papers,analytical,testing,calibration and consultancy services,she maintained. The major target of PCSIR involves the utilization of the huge reserves of Thar coal to overcome the energy crisis in Pakistan by converting the coal into liquid fuel in an effective manner to support the economy of the country, she went on to add.
