ISLAMABAD- KPT handled 30.7m tonnes of cargo during the first nine months of the current fiscal year which is 6.5 per cent higher than the corresponding period last year. According to National Economic Survey 2013-14 released here on  Monday said, the steady and continuous progress made by KPT has helped boost the national economy over the years with increasing international trade in the globalized world. Karachi Port provides safe navigation for vessels up to 75,000 metric tonnes deadweight (Dwt.).  According to the survey Port Qasim handled 18.971m tonnes of total cargo during July-March 2013-14 which is 2.2 per cent higher than the same period of last year.
