Rashid retires from Mobilink this week
ISLAMABAD (PR): Rashid Khan, President & CEO of Mobilink is retiring from active service this week. He is a veteran of the telecom industry and has held several leading positions for the past 20 years. An elderly iconic figure, Khan has played an instrumental role in growing Pakistan’s cellular industry to what it is today. A staunch advocate of the Pakistani market, he was successful in sharing his vision of Pakistan’s telecom environment to his shareholders resulting in bringing significant investment to the country over the years.
Paying tribute to Khan’s contribution, Minister of State for IT & Telecom Ms. Anusha Rehman said, “Mr. Rashid Khan played a dominant role in the transformation of cellular industry.

Huawei Ascend P7 awarded
BERLIN(PR): Huawei awarded ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2014 – 2015’ by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for its latest flagship smartphone, Huawei Ascend P7. This is the second consecutive year that Huawei has been recognized by EISA after receiving the award for ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2013 – 2014’ for the ultra slim 6.18mm Ascend P6 launched in June 2013.
The new 4G LTE-enabled Ascend P7 redefines smartphone excellence and builds on the success of Huawei Ascend P6.

HBL joins hands with FARID’S Supermarket
KARACHI (PR): HBL signed an agreement with Farid’s Supermarket and Pharmacy in Karachi to offer a co-branded Loyalty Card to HBL DebitCard holders. Under the arrangement, the retailer will issue the HBL/Farid’s loyalty card free of cost to the customers who shop at Farid’s. The loyalty card initially has two features; double reward points on HBL DebitCard usage at Farid’s and discount of up to 12pc on Qatar Airways.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr.Faiq Sadiq, Head of Payment Services at HBL said, “HBL is pleased to join hands with Farid’s to offer the first co-branded loyalty card.

ICI Pakistan announces net profit of Rs 1.7b
Karachi (PR): The Board of Directors of ICI Pakistan Limited is pleased to announce the financial results for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014.
The Company posted  profit after tax  of PKR 1.7 billion which is 47% higher than the same period last year.
Net Sales Income is 5% higher than the same period last year primarily due to a higher  sales volume in the Life Sciences, Soda Ash and Chemicals Businesses. The successful commissioning of the Coal Fired Boilers at the Soda Ash plant and Coal Fired Heaters at the Polyester plant positively impacted energy costs during the year, reducing the burden of usage of high priced furnace oil. The Polyester Business continued to face a difficult trading environment with margins remaining under pressure.

Inauguration of Barrett Hodgson Int’l launched

Observance of Foreign Object Debri walk
LAHORE (PR): A Foreign Object Debri (FOD) Walk at the apron of Jinnah International Airport was observed under the umbrella of Safety & Quality Management System Branch of Civil Aviation Authority.  Airport Manager CAA, Mr. Asghar Fahim Khattak, concerned officers of airlines, ground handling and other related agencies of Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) participated in the walk.
The purpose of this walk was to give awareness to the stake-holders, working at the airport, that how cleanliness at apron is imported to avoid damage to the body and engine of an aircraft.  It was made evident that a little effort of cleanliness can ensure safety of aircrafts.

UCP awards PhD degree to Prof Ather
LAHORE (PR): University of Central Punjab has awarded Ph.D degree in Commerce to Prof. Ather Azim Khan. He is the first graduate registered with the Faculty of Commerce, University of Central Punjab, Lahore, for Ph.D. The title of his thesis is “A Comparative Study of Microfinance Institutions of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh: Philosophy, Methodology and Performance”.
