KARACHI : TCP Chairman Rizwan Ahmed Shaikh has vowed to streamline the system of the TCP and eliminate corruption. TCP chief sought suggestions from the shipping agents to make transparent system for allocation of vessels to shipping agents. TCP has enlisted more than 45 shipping agents in its panel of shippers panel, however only 12 shipping agents including one member of shipping agents’ association have turned up in the meeting. Capt. Raza Qadir Niazi from Isra International has suggested the chairman to enlist only 10 shipping agents on its panel due to availability of short business in TCP.
He advised the chairman to select ten or twelve shipping agents in Karachi or Bin Qasim and Gwadar Ports on the basis of their best performance for TCP further suggesting to enhance security deposit $20,000 per agent, shed the list from around 25 non performing agents and blacklist those agents who got dual registration.
Representative of Noble shipping advised to nominate vessel serial wise. Pakliner Shipping, Shenon Shipping and other shipping agents agreed with suggestion of Capt Raza. Chairman TCP then suggested for balloting for nomination of vessel. As the meeting remained inconclusive the TCP would announce final decisions in this regard very soon.
