Pak envoy visits solar plant in Japan

ISLAMABAD - Ambassador Farukh Amil visited the Oita Mega-Solar Plant in Oita Prefecture, the largest in Japan in order to know how its expertise could be helpful for finding solution to persisting energy crisis of the country. The envoy’s visit was part of the government’s policy to find urgent solutions for the energy crisis. The field visit was coordinated with global alternative energy giant, Marubeni Corporation, said a message received from Tokyo here Thursday. The ambassador toured the one kilometer square 82 MW facility and held discussions with senior Officials on site to explore possibilities for solar power plants in Pakistan.
Marubeni favours a dispersed model of several 1 MW plants that can be constructed quickly, providing rapid local solutions for energy needs.
The decentralized approach is said to reduce transmission losses and provide the fastest relief for businesses and citizens in the adjacent communities, it said.
