ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has shown concerns over the slow pace of construction work on Metro Bus Project and called for expediting the development activity for the benefit of the commuters of the twin cities.
Shahban Khalid, president of ICCI, while chairing the meeting called for taking measures for its timely completion as any delay would create problems for business activities as well as for the citizens. Khalid said that the Chairman, Metro Bus Project Committee during a visit to Chamber House had assured for completion of project two months before its target date, said a statement issued by the Chamber here.
He was of the view that many roads in Islamabad are closed owing to construction work on Metro Bus project due to which industrialists and traders are facing problems in transporting goods smoothly. He said the schools have reopened after summer vacations, but due to closure of main arteries in the city, commuters have to face inconvenience. Shaban Khalid said the puddles emerged on many roads in Islamabad also pose risk to travelers, especially at night. He said keeping in view the current pace of work, it seems unlikely that the project would be completed on time.
He appealed the Metro Bus Project Committee as well as the Capital Development Authority to look into these problems and take urgent measures to speed up the pace of work for timely completion of this important project.
