Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, Chairman APOTOA Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram Durrani alleged that the rulers were not working for the benefits and betterment of the people. They were working for their own benefits and did not bother about the inflation.
He urged the government to withdraw the recent hike by April 15. If the government does not consider their demands sincerely, thousands of oil tankers all over the country will stop supplying fuel to NATO, grid stations, seaports, airports, marketing companies and petrol stations.
He added that due to the recent hike in petrol products prices, the oil tankers have the right to increase the transportation fares up to 30 percent.
He expressed their deep concern over the killing of drivers and cleaners in Punjab and Balochistan and demanded of the government to provide them protection.
He also strongly criticised that the traffic police and excise police take heavy bribe from the drivers.
