Korean team visits LCCI

LAHORE - While calling for a proper sector-specific strategy to identify the challenges and problems coming in the way of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Korea, the Korean Ambassador in Pakistan Choongjoo Choi Tuesday expressed the resolve to contribute to Pakistans economy by sharing trade-related information with Chambers of Commerce in the country. Korean Ambassador was talking to LCCI Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad here at LCCI Tuesday. LCCI Vice President Sohail Azhar, Executive committee members Mian Zahid Javaid, Dr Shahid Raza, Fahimur Rehman Sehgol and Ch Wajid Ali also spoke on the occasion. The Ambassador expressed the optimism that the volume of trade between Pakistan and South Korea was bound to increase as both the governments are taking measures to get the desired results. He said that the non-availability of required trade-related information was the biggest hurdle in the way of South Korean investment in Pakistan. He admitted that Korean investment in Pakistan is very little when it is compared the potential exists in the two countries. The diplomat while identifying a number of areas for mutual cooperation said that there was a need for expertise-sharing as both the countries have a lot to learn from each other. He said that there is a big potential in SME sector therefore Pakistani business community could avail opportunities in this particular area. He urged the LCCI to arrange a business delegation to South Korea so that Pakistani businessmen could have first hand knowledge about opportunities there.
