SIALKOT - National flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced to start its direct international passenger flights to London-UK and Barcelona-Spain from Sialkot International Airport after the recent successful launch of its direct international passenger flights to Sharja and Jeddah-Saudi Arabia. According to the senior PIA officials, the PIA would start its direct international passenger flights for London from Sialkot in June 2010 and soon for Barcelona-Spain with a sole aim of providing the better aviation and travelling facilities to the thousands of the frequent travellers of the region. They said that the SIAL and PIA have already completed all the necessary arrangements in this regard. They said that PIA management was also considering to start its direct international passenger flights for Middle East. They narrated, by the inauguration of these flights, the industrialists of Sialkot region and other people will be served well and their belated desire will be fulfilled. The citizens of Sialkot and adjoining districts will benefit from it. PIA senior officials said that the PIA is considering the possibility of starting flights for Barcelona. By these flights, the visitors for Europe and Middle East will find such a program most attractive and comfortable, they said. They very much applauded the efforts of the Sialkot business community for the establishment of such an Airport under their patronage and appreciated the decisions of the Airport authorities and assured full support and cooperation to them.
