FBR hints at 10pc less tax collection

ISLAMABAD - FBR Chairman Sohail Ahmad has said that the recent floods had affected the revenue collection of the country, as FBR might collect 10 percent less than the annual tax collection target of Rs 1667 set for the ongoing fiscal year. He said this while talking to media after attending a seminar on Harassment of Women at Workplace ACT-2010 here. He said though there is an impact of floods on the economy but after five to six months things would get better and the revenue generation would improve. He further said that FBR had collected Rs 290b taxes in the first quarter (July-September) of the current fiscal year against the target of Rs 295 billion. He further said that several tax exemptions would be removed under the RGST. To a question regarding the proposed flood tax, he informed that the govt would decide about it, as he could not say anything about it now.
