KARACHI (PR) - Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organized four training courses in Basic Manual Jewellery Designing, Gemstone Faceting, Gem Identification and Grading and Computer Aided Jewellery Designing (Matrix 6) at its Gems and Jewellery Training & Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) in Lahore. All four courses started on 5th April would continue for different duration ranging from 10 days to 2 months. 13 participants are being trained in Basic Manual Jewellery Designing, 10 in Gemstone Faceting, 15 in Gem Identification and Grading and 14 participants are being trained in Computer Aided Jewellery Designing (Matrix 6). Basic Manual Jewellery Designing course would cover important concepts like manual colouring, image sketching, colour gemstone variation, transparent and non-transparent gems stones, structure guides, jewellery making using pearls. In Gemstone Faceting course the participants will receive the first hand knowledge of gems cutting and polishing through gemstone faceting techniques, right from the sawing to finishing. Gemstone Identification and Grading course would help the gemstone dealers in evaluating precious/semi-precious gemstones. The availability of Gemstone Identification Lab will help the participants to gain firsthand knowledge regarding the latest equipment. Computer Aided Jewellery Designing (Matrix 6) training course was especially designed to familiarize the techniques of Jewellery Designing with the help of computers, and to transfer the knowledge essential for using jewellery designing computer software like Matrix, etc. This training program was designed to equip people from the Gems & Jewellery industry who are engaged in jewellery making/designing in the form of craftsmanship and/or entrepreneurship. The participants will also be exposed to latest technology including modern equipments installed at the GJTMC in order to provide hands on experience to the participants. Courses of such nature are one of the ways by PGJDC to improves capacity building in the jewellery business increasing opportunities for export through state of the art designs and quality production.
