LAHORE - Farmers should ensure packing of fruits and vegetables as per international standards for earning good profit of their produce and for providing healthy commodities to consumers.
Agriculture experts have expressed these views while talking to APP on Sunday. They said poorly made boxes and cartons in which vegetables and fruits were transported contributed a lot in damaging commodities.
Proper packing not only saved produce from damage but consumers also got quality products, they added.
Experts said farmers could get benefit of their good production only if their produce was transported in a proper packing. Boxes and cartons should be selected keeping in view weight and type of the commodity while the agriculture department recommended poisons should be used to keep agriculture products save from germs and insects, experts added.
