Punjab govt working on low-cost housing schemes

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government is speedily working on low-cost housing schemes for the low-income stratum of society and for this purpose Punjab Land Development Company has also been established. He said that initial projects under the low-cost housing schemes, will start soon to materialise the dream of low-income people to have their own homes. He said this during a briefing given to him by Arif Habib Group Chairman Arif Habib regarding Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), here Saturday. MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chairman Taskforce Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board Pir Saad Ahsan-ud-Din, senior member Board of Revenue, Secretaries for Finance and Excise and Taxation departments were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister, while lauding the services of Arif Habib Group for the promotion of investment in the country, said that the Punjab government is pursuing a comprehensive policy of improving the living standard of the masses and the first low-cost housing scheme will soon be started at Suay Aasil. He said that steps are also being taken to save the people from Patwari mafia and forgery in land record. He said that work on land record computerisation is underway on fast track. Modern technology should be used to make the system transparent and vibrant. All resources are being utilised for providing basic facilities to the people and the provincial govt is paying special attention to exploit additional resources, the CM added. Chairman Arif Habib Group, Arif Habib said that investors and industrialists admire the meritorious services of the CM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
