Sri Lanka to participate in exhibition

KARACHI - Sri Lanka trade delegation will visit Karachi in October 2012 and participate in Expo Pakistan exhibition in the city which will have Sri Lanka pavilion.  This was stated by Sri Lanka Consul General in Karachi, DW Jinadasa, at Iftar dinner hosted by President Pak-Sri Lanka Business Forum Tarek Khan. He said efforts are being made to improve bilateral trade, for which vast potential exists between two countries. We are planning to have interactive promotion sessions with Pakistani business community, investors, traders, industrialists to let them aware of what is available in Sri Lanka. We are looking closely at government, private sector trade associations and others to improve bilateral trade,” he added. Jinadasa said both countries inked a framework agreement few years ago and working to further improve trade.

 Positive trends emerged in last four to five years and bilateral trade volume rose last year to over $350m. He said business community needs to explore available opportunities. He said in last few years, lot of new products, services entered into each other s markets which need to be capitalised to expand bilateral trade.
