LAHORE - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has assured the nation that gas shortage would be bridged within next one and a half year.
Addressing a function in Lahore‚ he said the government is focusing on speedy completion of all energy projects including Gaddani Power Project‚ Diamir Bhasha Dam‚ Bunji Dam and Dasu Dam‚ civil nuclear power projects and Neelum Jhelum Hydro-power project. Nawaz Sharif said the PML-N government is fully aware of its responsibilities and is using all avenues to get electricity. Government is striving to tap all resources to overcome energy shortage. He said energy is the very basic need to keep the industry operational‚ jack-up exports through increased production‚ ensures economic development and people’s prosperity. Referring to the gas shortage‚ he said his government is working on the issue and gas shortage would be bridged within next one and a half year. The Prime Minister said the government is also paying full attention to road infrastructure projects‚ especially the Lahore-Karachi Motorway to improve trade activities in the country.
