Pitac sets record to render industrial training

LAHORE (PPI) - The Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC), working under the Ministry of Industries and Production, has achieved a new record to render industrial and technical training to its students to fulfill the indigenous industry requirement. The PITAC has enlarged the number of students to 2,201 from 1,779 during the fiscal year 2009-10, which is 23.07 per cent higher than that of the last year. While it earned revenue from its services, projecting an increase of 14.44 per cent from the last fiscal year. The organization achieved this target with the efforts of the whole management and staff and under the vibrant and forceful lead of the PITAC General Manager Tariq Ahmad Ch. These views were observed by PITAC Marketing Senior Manager Engineer Irfan Zaheer while talking to the news agency. He said that in the year 2008-09 the number of trainees were 1,779 while during 2007-08 number of trainees were 1,441. The successful trainees are being getting jobs in the industries and their demand in the Middle East is equally increasing day by day, he added. He said that Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre is a dynamic organisation providing engineering solutions to both public and private sectors industries and training of engineers in the latest technologies and usages of in modern CNC machineries. He pointed out that the PITAC facility has advanced machinery that is operated by dedicated trained engineers. Our skill at providing a one-stop-service to industries from Plastic Injection Mould Tooling, Heat Treatment Technology to advanced machining centres is second to none. We are proud to educate and disseminate our skills to engineers and companies throughout Pakistan. We have the abilities to develop and design from conceptual ideas to the finished product and continue through the production, he added. Plastic Mould Department Manager Mr Irfan Jaral told the agency that it was founded in 1962 with the merger of industrial research and development cell and industrial productivity cell. In 1982 Japan International Cooperation Agency phase I project was commenced with the introduction of new Japanese machinery, he informed. He said that in 2002, Phase II project was initiated with the cost of Rs 460 million with a new plastic injection moulding facility. To keep our process continued development PITAC has launched in January 2009 its new logo and slogan and is developing linkages with national and international organizations, he maintained. PITAC today is providing service to Pakistan which can be measures with the number of engineers and products that go through our hands, he concluded. PITAC Manager Accounts Manzar Hussain talking the news agency said that during the period 2009-10, a total of 2,200 successful trainees were awarded with certificates, he said. He added that after the introduction of new courses number of participants have also increased as compared to the previous years. He added that PITAC is also helping the industries in Plastic Molding, designing and manufacturing of dies. He said that people from all provinces are invited to avail these facilities of training course by paying a very nominal fee. He said that PITAC has been offering regular courses to prepare a workforce suitable for our indigenous industry. 'The contents of the courses are designed carefully and according to the needs of the local industry. The organization offers the courses to participants who are Matriculate to have some industrial experience. Besides, it provides further technical experience and training to the TTC Diploma holders, B Tech and graduate engineers. Special courses like Engineering Draughting, Auto CAD, CNC, Machining CNC/ EDM, Wire cut, 3D CAD/CAM Advance and many other technical courses along with English spoken/IELTS are also offered by the PITAC, he said. PITAC Employees Union Chairman Muhammad Saleem Shah observed that these training courses are very important for economic growth of our public and private organizations, providing them a solution and technique to raise their existing standard to achieve world-class level.
