Govt striving to rid country of energy crisis: Shahbaz

LAHORE - A delegation led by Senior Vice President CWE Investment Corporation China, Wang Shoafeng met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Wednesday. Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Secretary Irrigation and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
Shahbaz Sharif said on the occasion that present government would fulfil the promise of ridding the country of energy crisis at all costs. He welcomed establishment of South Asia Investment Company by CWE Investment Corporation China for investment in energy sector in Pakistan and said that Chinese Company should also consider investment in small hydel projects in Pakistan.
Wang Shoafeng said on the occasion that his Corporation wants to promote further cooperation with Pakistan in energy sector and would also consider launching of small hydel projects in Punjab.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Chief Executive Cambridge International Examinations Michael O’ Sullivan called on Chief Minister. Matters relating to further improving the system of examinations of 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th classes in the province were discussed during the meeting. The Chief Minister stressed the need for further improving system of papers setting and procedure of examinations.
He said that concerned institutions of Punjab and Cambridge International should jointly prepare the recommendations with regard to improving examination system. He directed that a programme for capacity-building of concerned staff should be evolved for further improving examination system and papers setting.
