PIA inducts 18 graduates of 25th Avionics apprentices

karachi - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the induction of eighteen graduates of 25th Avionics apprentices in the airline on the occasion of certificate distribution ceremony held at PIA Training Center (PTC) on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Managing Director Pakistan International Airlines, Saleem Sayani said that PTC has played a very important role in providing technically trained staff to aviation industry. The graduates from PTC are now being part of major international and local airlines, he said and announced that the apprentices of 25th Avionics course will now be the part of Pakistan International Airlines maintenance staff as they have been trained to excel in the field of Avionics engineering. He congratulated the students and their parents on the successful completion of this three years course. The principal PTC, Younis M. Khan said that world is short of aircraft technicians especially in the field of avionics and PTC has trained eighteen students in 25th Avionics Course under three year program. He said the students had intensive coursework in class rooms and attended on-job-Training with Pakistan International Airlines engineering staff. The avionics technicians are trained to work for fly-by-wire and glass cockpit in the aircrafts. He informed that CAA Pakistan has approved the syllabus for Basic Avionics and Basic Aerospace Courses on 11th September 2009. On the occasion, Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas, Abul Kalam Siddiqi awarded ISO 9001:2008 certificate to PIA which was received by Deputy MD Saleem Sayani. This certificate is an International standard related to quality management, applicable to any organization from all types of business sectors and activities. PTC designed and conducted courses of Flight Operation, ACSI, Web Ticketing, fare Filing and Cargo for Ariana Afghan Airlines and generated revenue of USD 75,000 with only 15 week of training. PTC has trained 240 Management Trainee Officers and took exam of 42,000 Administration Assistants. We have played our role in Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program successfully, said Senior General Manager PTC, Khalid Iftikhar. He elaborated the PTCs future plans and said that it in collaboration with Institute of Business Administration (IBA) plans to initiate a program of MBA in Airline Management. This would be the first institute in Pakistan to start Business Management Program in aviation, he said adding that PTC also desires to start the program of Finance Training Unit and Mandatory Management Training Program. PTC has also proposed Apprentice Training Units at Lahore and Rawalpindi to produce local technical workforce for PIA, Iftekhar said. Deputy Director General Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Riaz ul Haq also addressed the ceremony.
