RCCI playing pivotal role in spurring trade activities



RAWALPINDI (APP) – The President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Manzar Khurshid Sheikh has said that it is need of the hour to promote non-traditional trade items and explore new trade markets to enhance trade volume. “RCCI is playing its due role to enhance trading activities in the world especially in SAARC region to endorse local products by organizing Single Country Exhibitions and same sprit will be continued in future”, he said. He stated this while addressing the executive committee meeting held here at the Chamber.  Senior Vice President Parvaiz Ahmed Warriach and other members of the committee were also present on the occasion.Manzar Khurshid said that in 21st century where world is focusing on promotion of non-traditional items we are still claiming textile sector which is in no doubts contributing around 58 per cent of total exports but if government facilitate in gems and jewellery sector we can enhance our exports to $60 billion. Beside gems we have to introduce and explore other sectors to capture the world trade markets.  Pakistan is a land which is full of natural resources and it’s our duty to utilize these resources properly.President RCCI said that India is earning billion of dollars byimporting precious stone from Pakistan on cheaper rates and after finishing and polishing the said stones were being sold on high prices and this is happening because Pakistan don’t have the cutting, polishing and finishing machinery of stone and skilled labor. He said that RCCI took initiate and with the help of Punjab government a gems and jewelery development center is being established to promote thesaid industry. He also demanded of the federal government to facilitate the business community involving in the said business and give relaxation by importing heavy machinery for stone digging.
