Management transfers director who earned Rs 16m for PIA

LAHORE – PIA management has transferred Director Airport Services Ijaz Mazhar due to unknown reasons on Friday, said an officer of the airlines.
A notification issued in this effect said that he will be notified later for his new assignment. Ijaz Mazhar is an officer who was given credit of earning about Rs 12 million from Excess Baggage and Rs 4 million from transit flights from only Lahore station by transferring certain officers. He transferred General Manager Food, Rana Hanif, GM, Passenger Handling, Saeed Khan and GM Flight Services, Haq Nawaz Barohi. A circle of PIA officers was of the view that he was being pressurised to withdraw transfer orders of senior officers but he refused to do so and ultimately he was transferred. But some other circles of PIA officers were of the view that Ijaz was transferred for patronising some ill-reputed officers in the airlines. When contacted spokesman of PIA said that no such allegation was surfaced so far and it was routine transfer.
