President and Chief Executive Officer of PTCL Waleed Arshad, Senior Executive Vice President Naveed Saeed, CTO Nasrullah and Executive Vice President Corporate Services Zaman Gulzar were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister congratulated the administration of PTCL on the setting up of the biggest data centre of the country in Lahore and said that the visible improvement in its performance is the result of the change of management and it is his desire that PTCL should make further progress and provide better services to the masses.
He said that PTCL should also play its role in the social sector of the country. He said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive policy for the promotion of information technology in the province and IT labs have been set up in more than 4000 schools and the students from Attock to Rehimyar Khan are acquiring latest knowledge and gaining information about the changing world scenario and new inventions. He said that modern IT labs are also being established in Daanish Schools and smart boards are also being provided in these schools.
He said that modern educational facilities will become available to the poor students of backward areas with the setting up of Daanish Schools and they will also be able to play their role in the national development and prosperity after acquiring modern knowledge. He said that young generation will be imparted modern education for putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity and such welfare projects will help transform Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state in the real sense. He said that PTCL should also cooperate with Punjab government in the monitoring of IT Labs.
Earlier, PTCL President Naveed Arshad while addressing the function said that every citizen has the right of access to information and after Karachi, the biggest data center of the country has been established in Lahore. He said that PTCL is taking all out measures for providing better facilities to the masses.
