LAHORE - Lahore High Court has restored sacked director operations of Lesco Mehboob Ali by suspending his suspension orders on Monday.
Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh passed this interim order while hearing the petition filed by the director operations. The judge directed Ministry of Water and Power, Pepco and other respondents to submit reply on next hearing.
Advocate Shehram Sarwar, the counsel for petitioner, said that his client was illegally removed from his office and had been taken into custody by FIA as no prior investigation was held. He was arrested on the basis of vogue allegations of selling electricity to industrial units. The counsel said the trial court released the petitioner on bail and observed in its order that the prosecution’s allegations were not proved.
The counsel said the corrupt mafia in Lesco did not want him (petitioner) working at the office and had been trying to implicate him in the fake cases. He argued that Pepco illegally issued termination orders of the petitioner as it lacked the competent jurisdiction. Powers to remove or appoint officers in Discos lied with their board of directors, said the petitioner’s counsel.
He requested the court to set aside the notification of petitioner’s removal and reinstate him to his post.
After hearing the arguments, the judge suspended the impugned order and sought replies from the respondents on the next hearing still to be fixed by the office.
