Growers advised to save vegetables from cold

LAHORE : Farmers should take timely measures to keep vegetables saved from cold weather and frost.    Agriculture Ext (A&R) Director General Dr Muhmmad Anjum Ali told APP on Sunday that cold weather was not good for nurseries of chili, tomato and brinjal. He suggested growers to cover nurseries with plastic sheets in the evening daily and remove it the next day at 9:00 in the morning.
Farmers should stop watering nurseries if any disease was witnessed then pluck affected plant and burry it.
He also asked farmers to use 25 gram Nitro-Phos fertilizer on each nursery if plants get weak.
The DG said timely hoeing and removal of weeds were necessary for proper growth of vegetables.
