KARACHI - The Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has directed the concern authorities to complete all ongoing projects in Tannery Zone of Korangi Industrial Area.
He stated this during a meeting with delegation of Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) comprising on Fawad Jawed along with Vice Chairman Rehan Hannan, former Chairman Danish Khan and Secretary A Majeed Bhatti, while Acting MD, KWSB and other officials of civic agencies and police were also present on the meeting.
The Commissioner has directed the KMC to allot a plot of land ST 18, for setting up gas pumping station for Tannery Zone in order to provide proper gas pressure to the industries as the tanning factories are complaining low pressure of gas that hurting industrial production.
He further instructed the concern officials to regularly remove solid waste in order to keep area clean. He further directed the Deputy Commissioner Zubair A Channa to remove all encroachments from the area particularly the oil tankers of National Refinery due to which the traffic remains clogged on the surrounding Roads. Following the issue of water supply from KWSB, he instructed the acting MD, KWSB Najam Alam to make it possible to supply allocated quota of water to the tannery Zone through newly laid water supply line.
He warned that if the water into newly laid pipeline would not released, the pipeline would be cracked and a huge amount of Rs44 million would go waste. The Chairman PTA, Fawad Jawed said that water scarcity in the area is badly haunting the industries and many of them are threatened to close down due to non-availability of water which is the major raw material in the industry. He said that KWSB could easily supply the water to the area by imposing rotation system and supply the water to all the industries amicably. He praised the Commissioner Karachi for taking all the urgent issues of the Tannery Zone on priority.
