LAHORE - Member National Assembly Pervez Malik has said that Punjab government has decided to establish new industrial estates in the province with the help of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company in Chinyot, Wazirabad, Daska, Mianwali and several other cities.
He was presiding over a meeting held in the PIE’s city office.
Earlier in his address, PIE Chairman S M Tanvir said that, besides developing the existing estates, work on new industrial estates was also in progress while the master plan for Bhalwal Industrial Estate had been approved. These industrial estates under PIE had employed thirty thousand workers so far, he said, adding that over one lakh workers would get jobs after the completion of new industrial estates. He added that the PIE would soon provide the government with a strategy to establish medium sized industrial estates as well.
Besides different departments’ secretaries, representatives from private and government institutions were also present on the occasion. It is to be noted that manufacturers and industrial community have voiced concern over the failure of present industrial estates in different cities of the province.
They alleged that government only announces the establishment of industrial estate on papers, but in reality there is no such thing in solid shape. They said even Sundar Industrial Estate has not been functional properly and plot holders of this estate complain that it is lacking several facilities.
