MULTAN : The Punjab government has prepared a plan for lining of 136 canals in six canal zones across the province including Multan district. According to irrigation sources, the Punjab irrigation secretary has sought a report from chief engineers on canals to be included in the plan and the lining of canals would be completed till June 2014. The purpose of the lining is to control the waste of water and ensure the provison of water to tail-end.
The project would be completed with foreign aid and canals of Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sargodha, Lahore and Faisalabad districts are included in plan.
