Call to join hands with Smeda to promote self-employment

LAHORE - The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has called upon the community welfare organisations to join hands with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in promoting self-employment scientifically.
Unisame President Zulfikar Thaver said the community welfare organisations are doing commendable work in health and education sectors and are successfully running hospitals, clinics, schools and information technology training centres and urged them to extend their good work and establish skill development centres and lend financial support to those desirous of setting up their own small businesses. He said the philanthropists of the community could support the community welfare organisations to arrange for purchase of equipments and tools for setting up of workshops for self-employment for the small entrepreneurs belonging to their communities.
He said Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority is proud of the community welfare organisations who are doing noble work for their community members and many have kept their services open for all communities and doing excellent charitable work. He called upon these welfare organisations to join hands with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and include in their agenda SME promotion and development with the help and guidance of SMEDA to benefit the community members in vocational guidance and setting up of small units for commercial activities and income generation.
He advised the management of community welfare organisations to contact the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority offices in their respective areas and seek help for the unemployed members of their communities and train and educate them to select occupations of their choice based on their aptitudes, education and experience.
He stated that the community organisations could also establish cooperative banks and cooperative societies to finance small business and Unisame and Smeda would be happy to offer help and support.
