Call to facilitate automotive industry

LAHORE : Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry executive body member Naveed Ahad has urged the government to offer incentives to automotive industry to enable it enhance auto parts exports. Talking to APP on Monday, he said Pakistani auto parts industry has potential to grab international markets but it requires government support. He said the auto parts manufacturers should get a fair chance to come across potential buyers to boost the business in auto sector. “Although the government is doing much for the automotive industry but there is room for more. Local auto industry needs government support and facilities to compete with international competitors more efficiently,” he added.
He said the government’s economic policies and in progress power generation projects would give great impetus to business and trade activities in the country. He underscored the need to install new industrial units which, he said, would create jobs.
On trade with India, Naveed Ahad, who is also Director AJR Metal Fabricators Ltd, said that it should be at equal level. “If our industry is provided facilities as are being offered in India, it can make rapid growth,” he said. He added that there were wide prospects of creating space in the Indian market for the indigneous industry.
