Govt urged to pay heed to expos

RAWALPINDI - Industrial Expos play a vital role in promoting the local products in the international market but unfortunately the Government has not established even a single Expo Centre in the country. The Government should pay heed towards the issue immediately so that the manufacturers, traders and consumers could get facilities under one roof, said Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) acting President Syed Ali Raza while addressing the standing committee on Fairs and Expos here on Friday. RCCI Vice President, Khawaja Abdur Rashid Waien, former presidents Abdur Rauf Chaudhry, Asad Mashadi and other members of the committee were also present on the occasion. Syed Ali Raza said that owing to the Government negligence, not even a single Expo Centre was established in the country where all the facilities provided to the manufacturers, traders and consumers. He said that exports could play an important role in the countrys economy. He added that RCCI had been striving hard to promote the local products in the world market. The RCCI Acting President announced that RCCI would organise a 'General Industrial and Trade Expo from August 07 to 09 at Jinnah Park (Topi Rakh Auditorium) to endorse the national goods. RCCI following its traditions for the betterment of the business community of the homeland, he said. While talking about the exhibition, Ali Raza was of view that that the RCCI always welcomed women entrepreneurs in the business activities. He said that separate display centres would be established for the women entrepreneurs in the RCCI General Expo 2010. Industries from all over the country will participate in the Expo and all the facilities will be provided to the manufacturers, traders and users under one roof, he maintained. He informed that booking of the stalls had been started, whereas the stalls would be given on the first come first serve basis. RCCI Acting President Syed Ali Raza demanded of the Government to establish the Expo Centres in all the major cities of the country, especially in Rawalpindi at earliest.
