FBR Chairman Ansar Javaid on Saturday directed all tax collectors to broaden the tax net and make all-out efforts to achieve the revenue targets.
While chairing two separate high level meetings of all tax collectors based in Punjab province, the FBR chief reviewed thoroughly their targets and the pace of recovery of pending taxes. Chief Collector Customs Lutfullah Virk, Chief Commissioner Large Tax Unit Mustafa Ashraf, Collector Preventive Juneid Akram, Collector Appraisement Zeba Hai Azhar and collectors and income tax commissioners drawn from Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bahwalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan from inland revenue and customs apprised him of tax collection targets.
Chairman one by one evaluated thoroughly overall output of all tax collectors, inland revenue chief commissioners and commissioners in Punjab. The important decisions were taken on the spot and measures were also discussed at length how to ensure realisation of pending taxes from the tax payers.
Ansar Javaid expressed its displeasure on the abysmal performance of collectorate of Appraisement, Lahore in terms of complete failure to achieve the annual target and checking of rampant corruption.
It may be mentioned here that President FPCCI Zubair Ahamd Malik and VP SAARC CCI Iftikhar Ali Malik had already assured the FBR chief of their full cooperation and support for the recovery of lawful taxes from taxpayers.
Later, talking to APP, he said that all proposals forwarded by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry are being given due weightage and viable suggestions will be incorporated in the forthcoming annual budget.
He said that FBR attached great importance to tax payers who constitute major chunk of total annual revenue collection of the national budget.
He said that all concerned members of the board had already been directed to keep in touch with FPCCI and other affiliated chambers and trade bodies to give final shape to the recommendations for next budget.
