PESHAWAR - The workers of Farmers Council district on Monday held a protest demonstration here in front of the Peshawar Press Club.
The protesting workers led by Kisan Council President Arbab Jamil were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favoUr of their demands and against the authorities concerned for fixing low prices of sugarcane. The protestors raised their slogans against the authorities concerned for ignoring the sector.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, Jamil said that in the existing price-hike, purchase price of sugarcane was fixed too much low, as the cost of production was also high.
He demanded to fix the support price of sugarcane proportionate to cost of production and price-hike.
Jamil also demanded the government to provide facilities and proper guidance to produces of sugarcane and Gur and take steps for its export to gulf-states.
He urged the government to resolve the issues being faced by the exporters in freely exporting popular wood to Afghanistan.
The protesting workers warned to launch a series of protest demonstrations and committing self-emulation in front of Chief Minister House if their demands were not met.
