Our Staff Reporter KARACHI - CNG stations across the province of Sindh remained closed from Tuesday Noon to Wednesday Noon while countless commuters suffered on Tuesday due to closure of CNG Stations for 24 hours. CNG Stations Owners Association Chairman Malik Khudda Baksh said that there are approximately 700 CNG stations in the province. Due to a scarcity of natural gas supply, they have suffered losses worth about Rs70 million. The associations members have decided to stay closed to make up for the shortage of gas. The spokesperson said that gas supply from Zamzama Gas Field has dropped to 90 million cubic feet instead of 130 million cubic feet, which necessitated taking the decision for the closure of all the CNG stations in the entire province. Despite rush was witnessed at bus stops where people including women and children were seen waiting for vans of concerned routes to take them to desired destinations. The private and public vehicles owners desperately waited for the opening of the filling pumps to get the fuel supplies and resume transporting the people. The consumers were of the view that they were being compelled to use expensive fuel because of inefficiency of gas officials Thousands of commuters suffered on Tuesday, while station owners also refused to provide gas to the rescue services, so Karachiites also faced worst hardships to shift their patients to the hospitals. Edhi and Chippa emergency services sent their messages that due to closure of the CNG filling stations the rescue services was badly affected and we are helpless to provide emergency services to victims of road traffic accidents. Talking to TheNation, a young man who was refused to fill gas informed that he has been standing here for long time, how I would reach to my destiny when tank of my car is empty while the prices of petrol have too high for common people, he emotionally expressed. We have no choice but to wait till Wednesday to fill our vehicles gas tanks.
