SSGC, SNGPL disconnect illegal gas connections


KARACHI/LAHORE - Sui Southern Gas Company’s Task Force belonging to Customer Relations Department conducted a major raid in Surjani Town against illegal users of gas and disconnected about 200 gas connections.
The residents of the area were found using gas directly from the distribution pipeline without metering.  The quantum of gas used through this illegal arrangement was about Rs. 5 million per annum.
According to details, the Task Force undertook this raid on Wednesday morning on lead from a reliable source regarding illegal consumption of gas in KDA Flats Phase-2, Surjani Town and Gulshan-e-Shahbaz. The Task Force summarily disconnected illegal connections for their failure to pay their gas bills.
After the completion of the operation, SSGC’s Nawab Ali Shah, Deputy Manager (Task Force) CRD requested the residents, who had gathered on the spot, to pay their dues at the earliest so that the gas utility can restore their connections.
Meanwhile, SNGPL task force against gas theft Wednesday conducted raid in Lakho Dher Shalimar Town and disconnected supply to Mushtaq Dying Factory on direct use. The task force headed by Engineer Mohsin Javid along with team members Haji Sattar, Rasheed Ahmed and Raja Moazam later raided in Shadi Pura area and disconnected three bypass delivering gas to a network of 40 houses, said the SNGPL spokesperson.
The other task force headed by Saleemullah Khan disconnected supply two domestic meters in Harbanspura area which were delivering gas to around 25 houses illegally, it was stated by the company.
