Forum on ‘Investment in Pakistan’

KARACHI (PR): The Karachi Chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global, peer-to-peer network, hosted an interactive forum at a local hotel in Karachi on “Investment in Pakistan: Opportunities & Challenges” with Dr. Miftah Ismail, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chairman, Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan.
Speaking to the group of dynamic entrepreneurs & influential business owners working in Karachi, Dr. Miftah Ismail highlighted that, “entrepreneurs who have been working in Pakistan and understand the economic environment and business processes in the country, have greater investment opportunity simply because of their market knowledge.”
Ease of doing business in Pakistan is dismally low and “not where it should be” admitted the Board of Investment Chairman. He said that despite obstacle, Pakistani entrepreneurs have repeatedly proved that “they are a resilient breed.”
Dr. Ismail identified Energy, Coal and Copper as the most lucrative areas of investment in Pakistan for the next 5 to 10 years, since these are our untapped natural resources.
According to Dr. Ismail, the key challenges that Board of Investment is working on tackling is improving the low rating Pakistan has in various economic and investment indices in comparison to not only our neighboring countries, but globally.

“Systematically, we aim to achieve our vision by further liberalizing Pakistan’s regulatory environment to make it easier for domestic and foreign entities to start up and develop.”
“These inspiring young entrepreneurs are already making a difference in Pakistan and creating thousands of jobs and with EO Karachi Chapter, we are aiming to transform our society and economy by consistently sharing knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurial leadership and experience,” Mr. Ali Ahmed, President, EO Karachi Chapter said at the occasion.
Young business owners and entrepreneurs, from multiple industries attended the forum and addressed their concerns and shared ideas with Chairman BOI. This Learning Event was sponsored by Bridge Factor.
