KARACHI - Most of the plastic card holders facing trouble due to unavailability of cash or disorder of Automated Teller Machines during the peak hour of Ramazan.
Customers in the metropolitan city avoid carrying cash because of poor law and order situation of the city but cash outlets seen failed to facilitate them in shopping areas.   Most of the bank account holders have complained that they could not withdraw cash due to out-of-order Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) during Eid shopping or because the ATMs were out of cash.
A customer in Saddar area of Karachi told The Nation, during Ramzan short time of banking bring so many problems because ATM machines were failed to accommodate the customers properly and people were unable to withdraw the cash from bank because of the short time banking in the holly month. Mostly machines have usually given the sign of “Out of Cash” in peak hours because such machines were unable to accommodate the rising trend of the plastic money.
Another customer informed that ATM transactions are responding poorly to facilitate their customers. For remittances services, many bank braches are failed to react in real time.
At the time of Ramazan and upcoming Eidul Fitr, overseas Pakistanis remit a huge amount to their homeland but banks branch failed to facilitate the customers.
Most of the customers leaving ATMs empty-handed informed that mostly braches have their own culture and the staff of the bank treated those on priority basis who have close relation with the management of bank branch. A customer also claimed the bank officials who are not follow the State Bank’s rule.
ATMs considered a great solace for Karachiites in the poor law and order situation in the city although it is not save place for the customers. Banking sources said that trouble occurs because of the raising trend of plastic money while extreme level of transactions during Ramazan would create problems especially in holidays. Sources said that if the system of one or two banks not working properly than the burden to other bank machines raising up multiple times and thus the whole cycle has been distract.
