ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal chaired a meeting of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of USAID and Planning Commission on Pakistan Strategy Support Programme (PSSP) here in the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms.
Deputy Chairman, Gregory Gottleib, Mission Director USAID/ Pakistan also attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting on this occasion, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform appreciated the role of USAID for the economic and social uplift of Pakistan. He highlighted the need for evidence based planning, and underscored the need for giving key consideration to ‘Development Focus’ in Pakistan - US relationship. He said, “American and Pakistani institutions must develop sustainable collaboration for this purpose”.
He highlighted the need for searching new ideas and developing good research designs to compete with the growing challenges of the modern world. He added that the results of the research should be measurable and linked with the overall development goals of the country. He was of the view that economic impact of the research must be explored and integrated into new research designs.
