Govt urged to provide resources to Wapda

LAHORE (PR) - Hundreds of workers held a mass sit-in Friday before LESCO Headquarter under the aegis of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union to protest against the flawed policies of the government.
The protesters were addressed by the trade union representatives including veteran trade union leader Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the union and M/s. Osama Tariq, Malik Noor Muhammad, Malik Shabbir Ahmad, Rana Shakoor, Rana Muhammad Akram, Syed Sajid Kazmi, Abdul Mateen, Ch.Muhammad Akram, Haji Muhammad Younis, Asad Mughal and others.
Khurshid Ahmad welcomed handing over the control of DISCOs, GENCOs, NTDC to WAPDA and urged the government to provide WAPDA resources for raising generation and prevent the political interference including recruitment on nepotism.
He demanded the LESCO management not to transfer any workmen on account of victimization. Otherwise, the workers would launch countrywide protest.
