MULTAN : Agriculture experts have advised to farmers to plant rose nursery in time to get good yield of fragrant flower. To ensure better growth, before plantation the graft be buried in inverted position under wet soil or sand for 10 to 15 days while keeping the soil soft. And then, it be planted in rows after proper preparation and levelling of land following application of a bag each of Ammonium Sulphate, TSP and SOP, says a release issued by media liaison unit of Punjab agriculture department. The four inch long graft be planted in a way that two third of its portion is buried. Lahore rose be utilized for grafting and distance between rows should be more than normal for proper follow up care.
For plantation of new plants, land be ploughed six to eight times and three bags of SSP, a bag of Potash, and four to five trollies of animal waste organic fertilizers be mixed in the soil. Already planted rose plants be trimmed and two to three trollies full of organic fertilizers be mixed in the soil.
Rose graft be obtained from a well reputed nursery and soil and water must undergo laboratory analysis before the grafting process.
In case of attack of armyworm on red roses, pest warning and agriculture extension officials be consulted to tackle the problem.
