Apex traders body head replaced

LAHORE The boards of over 280 markets of the provincial capital have removed Kahlid Pervaiz from the chairmanship of the Anjuman-e-Tajiran Lahore, electing Ch Mehboob Sirki as the new chairman of the body. The newly-elected chairman, during a media briefing at Lahore Press Club, said that over 280 local markets associations representatives have elected him as the chairman of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Lahore. He said that Shahid Maqsood Butt would continue to be the central chairman of the traders epic body. It is to be noted that Ch Mehboob Sirki is also the president of the Ferozepure Road Traders Board. It is also worth mentioning here that rift emerged between two groups of the leading traders body of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, as its Lahore President Ashraf Bhatti claimed to be elected as the central president of the association at a traders convent. The same All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran had some weeks back claimed to elect the acting president of the body Khalid Pervaiz as the central president of the association during a press conference. Khalid Pervez also announced to elect the son of late Haji Maqsood Butt as the chairman of the traders epic body. The Khalid Pervaiz faction of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran had also held an annual traders convention at the same location some months back and the Ashraf Bhatti group of the body also held the traders convention at the same premises in Gulshan-e-Ravi. Talking to The Nation, the newly-elected chairman of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Lahore Mehboob Sirki blasted the poor condition of law and order situation, saying traders are living constantly in fear. The speakers said that the business community should be involved for the sake of correct decision-making. He said the economy is in deep recession, poverty along with high inflation is a recipe for disaster. He warned that Pakistan is heading towards three digit inflation if immediate improvement in governance is not accompanied with cut in expenditure and substantial increase in revenue. He said that the present scenario could be changed by overcoming the acute energy shortage being witnessed by the country.
