KARACHI - SSGC Managing Director Dr Faizullah Abbasi has handed over 900 food packs to Advisor to Prime Minister Ms Shahnaz Wazir Ali. The food packs, which were given at the Shahdadkot residence of Mir Aamir Khan Magsi, MNA, contained mineral water, biscuits, dates, juices, roasted channay, powdered milk and other items for onward distribution among the flood-affected people of Shahdadkot. The Advisor and Magsi accompanied Dr Abbasi for a detailed inspection of the 22-km long man-made barrier, locally referred to as 'Bachao Band. The band was constructed under the personal supervision of Mir Nadir Khan Magsi, Provincial Minister for Food and his brother Mir Aamir Khan Magsi with the help of residents of Shahdadkot city. The Bachao Band is the last barricade for saving not only the Shahdadkot city but also Qambar Ali Khan, Miro Khan, Sajawal as well as more than 700 enroute villages in case the band breaks under the sheer impact of the surging flood water. Earlier, MD SSGC along with Arbab Muhammad Hashim, the SSGC official responsible for taking care of the entire relief operation in Sindh province visited the companys relief camps established in Shikarpur, Dadu and Larkana, where the gas utility under its 'Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is providing cooked food twice a day to more than 2,700 affectees taking refuge in the camps. All the three camps have been entrusted to SSGC by the relevant DCOs. In addition, SSGC is also providing full medical treatment in the form of ample supply of medicines while making doctors and para-medical staff available to the affectees to prevent the outbreak of epidemic. Moreover, the SSGC staff is doing regular fumigation of the camps. At Sheikarpur, 200 boxes full of foodstuff were handed over by MD, SSGC to Colonel Abbas Haider, Commandant 24 Sindh Regiment for onward distribution in the Army-established relief camp of Shikarpur. Dr Abbasi appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of SSGC officers, staff, doctors and para-medical staff engaged in serving the affectees. He expressed his satisfaction over the facilities being provided in all these camps. Talking to media at the Shikarpur Relief Camp, Dr Abbasi reiterated that SSGC is standing with the Pakistani brethren during these difficult times. He assured that SSGC is ready to establish more relief camps in Sindh and Balochistan on the request of the Government. To date, SSGC has dispatched a total number of 18 trucks containing 4,249 food boxes worth Rs 8.1 million and 62 boxes containing medicines. A total number of 314 'Degs of Biryani costing Rs 395,640 have been distributed among the flood affectees in all the three relief camps so far. PHBFs relief efforts for affectees KARACHI (PR) - The Pakistan Hong Kong Business Forum (PHBF) has been actively pursuing the Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong traders and Hong Kong-based companies in Pakistan who are donating relief for floods victims in Pakistan. To date the Hong Kong Government has donated a total of HK 5.3 million. HK 2 million via Oxfam in Hong Kong, HK 3 million for world vision Save the Children Hong Kong. In addition to this, an airline has started a special fund for the flood relief in Hong Kong and the airline has agreed to match whatever money is collected through staff donations.
