RCCI demands lifting of ban on wheat transportation

RAWALPINDI: President  RCCI Dr. Shimail Daud Arain and Former Chairman Flourmills association Sheikh Shabbir along with a delegation met Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain ® Zahid Saeed and discussed the overall situation after the ban on interregional wheat transportation.
Sheikh Shabbir said that Rawalpindi region is not self sufficient in wheat production and that’s why the region is dependent on the adjacent & surrounding regions. He said that owing to recent ban on wheat transportation severe flour shortfall is inevitable.
 He demanded of the government to announce immediate withdrawal of the said ban as region is likely to face shortage of flour.  Sheikh Shabbir said that flour mill industry is one of the largest industries of the region and facing immense problems due to wheat shortage. He suggested the government to give relaxation for wheat deficit areas like Rawalpindi to not only strengthen the local industry but also to curb the expected flour shortage in the region.–INP
Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Dr. Shimail Daud said that if government delayed to lift the ban, local industry will be hampered which can cause increase in unemployment and shortage of flour. He urged the commissioner to play his role for the betterment of the masses and the industry of the region and convey the business community message to the provincial government.
Commissioner Zahid Saeed ensured his full support and cooperation to the delegation and hoped that problem will be resolved soon.–INP
