LWMC clears 150 open waste plots to get rid of epidemics

LAHORE Lahore Waste Management Companys (LWMC) Plot Clearance Move 2011 is in progress. The company in collaboration with general public IS trying its level best to clear and clean all open plots filled with waste and construction and demolition material in all city (CDGL operational jurisdiction), says a press release. In last three days, some 7000 plus calls have been received by the company officials and company helpline 1139 wherein the citizens have requested and identified open plots in their respective union councils. Till date some 150 open plots have been cleared and cleaned from all kind of waste following the application pattern advertised by the company in local newspapers for general guidance and assistance. Following the directions of the CM Punjab, the company is struggling to involve community as much as possible in its open plots clearance move 2011. LWMCs operation department with all staff is serving in two shifts round the clock, with 150 plots cleared, work in some 134 plots is underway whereas more 300 complaints are lined up for further action. The company has set a target of 1675 plots clearance all over the city in next 10 days with the assistance of local and private contractors of tractor trolleys. LWMCs loader/dumper machinery has been deployed on plot clearance around the city for quickly achieving the results. Announcements in local mosques are also being made in order to urge more and more citizens to identify such trouble spots and get rid of open heaps of waste. An awareness campaign comprising of door to door mobilisation with the help of leaflets and banners in the areas have also been started in most of city areas with large number of open plots. Worth mentioning fact is that LWMC is providing financial and managerial assistance to clean the empty plots filled with waste. Contact numbers of Assistant Managers are available on the advertisement given in the newspapers so that the procedure may be made easier for the community to participate and more and more.
