125 to get training as solar technicians

LAHORE - To support the alternate energy sector in the country, Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) has launched a technical training course in solar technologies.
Three months training sessions have already been started at TUSDEC-NIDA (National Institute of Design and Analysis) Lahore Centre training 50 candidates in the technical area of Photovoltaics (PV).
The programme is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassay of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), said Company spokesperson here on Thursday.
Under the one year programme, 125 candidates will be equipped with technical skills to work as solar technicians in the industry.
The candidates holding a diploma in mechanical and electrical services or with an experiential base in the similar fields are being listed from all over Pakistan to attend the courses, while nominations for the trainees are also being collected from the industry.
To augment the practical pertinence of the programme, TUSDEC has setup a high-tech solar technology lab at NIDA (National Institute of Design and Analysis) Lahore, one of the subsidiaries to the company.
According to the company spokesperson, over Rs3 million has been spent to equip the Solar Lab at NIDA Lahore with the latest equipment and requisite to impart modern trainings in Photovoltaics and Solar Water Heating.
