NEPRA approves power tariff raise by Rs. 1 per unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has given approval for power tariff raise by one rupee per unit. According to a private television channel, Khalid Saeed Chairman NEPRA, on Thursday conducted hearing of a plea submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) for power tariff raise by Rs 1.05 per unit. After finding the demanded raise above the target set for transmission losses, NEPRA gave CPPA approval to increase power tariff by Rs. 1 per unit. This power tariff increase has been approved for the month of March, 2011; except life line consumers it has been imposed on all others.
