Industry suffering due to power shortage

LAHORE - Sixteen hours scheduled and unscheduled load-shedding is not only leaving an adverse impact on the national economy but also hampering the productivity of industrial sector. These views were expressed by the PIAF Chairman Irfan Qaiser while talking to businessmen during his visit to Brandreth Road here on Wednesday. The LCCI President Mohammad Ali Mian, Vice Chairmen of PIAF Khawaja Shahzeb Akram, former LCCI Presidents Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Shafqat Ali, former Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari, former Vice Presidents Mubasher Sheikh, Sheikh Mohammad Arshad and a large number of Executive Committee member were also present on the occasion. While expressing solidarity with the area businessmen, he assured them of PIAF's full support and said that they are quite conscious of the fact that the political uncertainty coupled with law and order is putting a very negative impact on the economy. He said that the government circles are being pressed to take corrective measures so that the business community could be able to do their businesses with peace of mind. The PIAF Chairman also urged the authority to ensure the availability of electricity for the industry so that the worsening economic situation could be controlled. The business leaders including Sheikh Sikandar Riaz, Sheikh Shafiq Riaz, Mamoo Ikram Ellahi, Imran Dawood and Sheikh M Younas welcomed Earliear, at the Brandreth Road, the PIAF delegation.
