LAHORE (APP) - Punjab Agriculture Minister Malik Ahmed Ali Aulakh has demanded implementation on Indus Water Apportionment Accord (IWAA) of 1991. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said IRSA had failed to discharge its responsibilities regarding implementation of the accord and the Prime Minister should take notice of this. He demanded reorganisation of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) as it was depriving Punjab of its water share which was injustice with the province. He said the situation had become critical due to water shortage adding No one can ignore the importance of agriculture. The Minister said that Punjab is a backbone of agriculture and playing a vital role in the countrys economy but unfortunately IRSAs policies were not in favour of this province. To a question, the Minister said Kalabagh dam should be built to overcome the energy crises. The government should take into confidence all the provinces to build this dam. Responding to another question, the Minister demanded trial of Pervaiz Musharraf for killing Nawab Akbar Bhugti and Lal mosque incident.
