Dollar appreciates against rupee in interbank


KARACHI - The dollar appreciated against the rupee in the interbank market throughout the week, dealers said on Saturday.
It initiated the week’s trading at Rs 90.13 for buying, rose seven paisas and closed at Rs 90.2 for buying and Rs 90.25 for selling.
The Euro recorded strength against the rupee as it commenced the week’s trading at Rs 116.28 for buying, moved Rs 1.91 up and closed at Rs 118.19 for buying and Rs 118.39 for selling.
The British currency gained strength against the rupee. It began the week’s trading at Rs 139.3 for buying, increased Rs 2.3 and closed at Rs 141.6 for buying and Rs 141.8 for selling.
In the open market, the dollar shed strength against the rupee, dealers said. It commenced the week’s trading at Rs 91.25 for buying, lost Rs 1.05 paisas and closed at Rs 90.2 for buying and Rs 90.55 for selling.
The European currency witnessed strength against the rupee as it started the week’s trading at Rs 116.40 for buying, gained Rs 1.80 and closed at Rs 118.20 for buying and Rs 120 for selling. The British pound recorded gain against local currency as it began the week’s trading at Rs 139.8 for buying, went Rs 1.20 paisas up and closed at Rs 141 for buying and Rs 142.8 for selling.
